A very long and intense interview cycle requiring a lot of research and presentations. It seemed the expectation was to be an expert in there products before being hired. The interview team were very nice, provided feedback, and support throughout.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Manchester, England) in Feb 2025
Interview
From start to finish, the experience was underwhelming. The initial recruiter seemed unprepared and unable to clearly articulate the role, the team setup, or even basic details about the company culture. It felt like I was being rushed through a process that they didn’t understand themselves. There were long wait times between stages, with no communication or updates in between a basic level of respect that was noticeably lacking.
Unfortunately, it didn’t improve with the two managers I later interviewed with. Both came across as disinterested and robotic, offering no enthusiasm for the role, the team, or the company. There was zero effort to explain what success looks like in the position, what the team dynamic is, or why anyone would want to work at Toast.
Leadership sets the tone for a team, and based on what I experienced, I wouldn’t feel comfortable working alongside or being led by managers who lack engagement, curiosity, or even the ability to hold a two-way conversation.
Interviews are a reflection of company culture — and this one spoke volumes.
I sent in my resume and received an email from the recruiter to set up an interview. We discussed my current role and the role at Toast and the culture as well.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Phoenix, AZ) in Apr 2022
Interview
It was very long, and the final interview seemed more like they were looking for dirt on my current employer/competition than a serious job offer. They would keep asking about the product rather than my skill set.
