      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at TheNewsletterPro (Boise, ID) in Aug 2017

      Interview

They had a group interview where they had a "speed date" process in which each person who worked there asked arbitrary weird questions that had nothing to do with the job. It was really awkward and competitive and didn't give the interviewee the time or privacy to explain why they were qualified for the job

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at TheNewsletterPro (Boise, ID) in Mar 2018

      Interview

The first round of interviews is a speed-date style which feels a bit hectic. They also sprang multiple unexpected editing tests, which took up a significant amount of time. This would have been fine if I had been warned about the length of the interview. I took time off from my current job thinking I would be gone for an hour, not for the remainder of business hours. I made it to the second round of interviews which is in front of the entire team you will end up working with if hired. Everyone was nice, but the manager said he hadn’t looked over my resume and wasn’t able to tell me what the salary for the position was. He said that he would have HR email me the details, but that never happened. This company seems much more interested in appearing hip and innovative than actually conducting business in a sensible manner. They waste a lot of time and resources interviewing too many people in too many settings. I feel like they could avoid wasting prospective employees’ time and their own time if they would narrow down their search earlier on and be prepared for the interviews that they conduct.
