I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (San Jose, CA) in Aug 2012
Interview
It was a group interview of about 8 people. It was hard because this was an entry level, young adult seeking position, so there were hardly any knowledgable answers given. Group interviews suck because everyone usually repeats what the person before them said. Interviewer was TEXTING while candidates answered questions, she was rude also.
Two people interviewed me. They asked a lot of hypothetical questions about how you would handle a kid in various scenarios. It was very relaxed. Be ready to explain why you want to work with children, your experience and how you handle stressful situations with children. They want to see that you can adapt and try new things to solve an issue.

Question 1
What do you do if you're having difficulty with a child and everything you've tried so far hasn't worked?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA)
Interview
Very friendly and easy. The interviewers were very nice and informative. The job was not what I expected though. The interview process was pretty quick, I was hired within days of the initial interview. Overall, a good interview experience.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Asheville, NC) in Oct 2018
Interview
It was very quick, on the phone interview, and lasted about 15 minutes. Most of the phone call was regarding what the responsibilities are, and how a work day would be set up. After my interviewer finished giving the run down, she then asked me about 4 interview questions. They were all very simple.
