      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Standard in Oct 2021

      Interview

Spoke with an HR rep over the phone. Reviewed information that had been entered already on the online application. Asked some basic behavioral questions. Last, they asked about the salary expectations. I told them I want to match what I make now and gave the woman the amount. she said ok and that I should look for an emailed link for an online assessment. We ended the call. two minutes later, I got a rejection email. I don't meet the qualifications for the role, even though I exceeded them tenfold. whatever.

      Interview

Simple and straight forward. Phone screening and one in person interview. Offer received via phone call after interview. Straight forward process, appreciate the simplicity compared to some companies that do 3-4 interviews.

      Disability Benefits Analyst Interview

      27 Oct 2018
      Anonymous employee

      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Standard (Portland, OR) in Dec 2016

      Interview

I had a phone screening which involved answering general questions about my education and work experience, what I know about the Standard, and why I want to work for the company. A few days later I was sent a link for an online timed exam. Reminded me of a general exam you would take in high school. About a week or two later I had an in person interview with 4 Benefits Analyst Managers. They took turns asking situation specific questions. In all, I think I answered about 5 different questions. I had initially been warned they would be asking me two pages of questions, so I was relieved it wasn't anywhere near that many. The only weird part about the interview is during the middle of answering one of my questions, one of the hiring managers very rudely cut me off and essentially told me to just stop. It was awkward and uncomfortable and left me feeling like I had tanked the interview. Not even a full 24 hours later though I received an email indicating I had been hired. I think the rude interviewer would have turned me off from accepting if it were not for the fact that I have a friend who works for the company and she has nothing but great things to say.
