The interview at this school was 8 hours long. As the social worker I'd serve as an extension of leadership so they wanted me to walk the halls and get a full scope of the school. I understood the full scope of the school after about 4 hours. They had me meet several members of staff, community partners, and students. They had me "observe" classes for a total of 4 hours before the board interviewed me. After I told them I saw all I needed to see, and would like to start the interview they denied my request. The rationale is them wanting me to "see the full scope of the school". It is structured like every other school. Classes, periods, kids cutting in the hall, there was nothing particularly special about the afternoon classes. They looked just like the morning ones I observed and participated in. I would never suggest anyone work or interview here. They did not provide anything but pizza for an entire days interview. When I mentioned that brain's aren't fully developed until the age of 25 they seemed surprised and almost offended. If you were looking to learn from a place like this the chances are rather slim. Even some of the community partners I spoke to told me leadership does not hold staff accountable to interventions for students. If you are looking for an orderly environment you likely won't find it here.
