I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Greeley, CO) in Apr 2008
Interview
There was a new store manager so the interview process was fast considering they were under staffed. I was contacted by the scheduler in the store to set up an interview time. I came in the day of the interview and had to wait about 30 mins for the manager. He was still in the previous interview. I met with the store manager and he was sick with a cold and we were in a tiny office so I tried to stay far away. He justa sked me about my previous retail experience and I was in the process of getting my masters degree and I was a graduate teaching assistant for my university so he asked me questions about if I could handle the work load etc. He also mentioned that working with customers at home depot is different than working with them at a clothing retailer because shoppers at home depot don't necessarily want to be buying the things that they are buys and he wanted to know how I would handle a difficult situation. Over all pretty pleasant experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you handle a difficult situation with a disgruntled customer?
just a conversation with the HR team, asked the basic questions and nothing to stressful. they made the process very easy and the interview was actually truely with only one single person
5 minutes not even an interview just acceptance. I walked in and they said when can you start and if I can submit to a drug test and background check I said yes and left.
I applied online. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Corvallis, OR)
Interview
The interview process was a friendly and professional experience overall. The managers are nice and accommodating to students at least at this location as I was a current student at Oregon state university and needed to work around a college schedule.
