      Short Term Disability Interview

      7 Aug 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      South Portland, ME
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at The Hartford (South Portland, ME) in Jul 2019

      Interview

Contacted by the HR person within 48 hours, pre-screen seemed positive and encouraging. I specifically stated I was only looking for a remote position and the two jobs my friend sent in the referrals for did not appear to be remote. I questioned whether I should interview for the positions. The HR rep stated after our pre-screen that she would encourage them to consider me based on how well I answered her questions and that she would reach out to a peer for consideration for another remote position out of state. The SKYPE was not working for the interview and the very first thing the interviewers asked was whether the HR rep explained this was not a remote position and likely would not be, the tone was condescending. They never referred to my resume and the man interviewing me was rather dismissive towards me when I was unable to list my skills in rapid order. I pointed him towards my resume which he was also dismissive of. The questions were in the typical useless STAR format which are basically designed to see how uncomfortable they can make you while you struggle to still try to give an intelligent answer. Dreadful. Since the HR rep stated I could contact her with any questions, I reached to her after the interview to see if there were any other truly remote options. Never heard from her again. I did notice she had moved my resume over to another remote position but she never informed me of this. Never heard from the people hiring for the other position and not so much as a courtesy rejection from the people who did interview me. Unprofessional. I will NEVER recommend this employer.
