There was a Skype interview, for which I had to prepare a lesson outline and brainstorm ideas for a theatrical piece for the children to make. This preparation took around two hours- I have not had to prepare anything (apart from CV/ cover letter) for any other summer language school (I have had three other interviews). The interview itself was the longest Skype interview I have had, lasting just over an hour, and it was unfortunately the least enjoyable. This was mainly due to the manner of the interviewer, who I found patronising and not a good listener. It seemed that there was a checklist of required answers to his questions, and I basically had to keep speaking until he could check off that I had said what was required. The interview concluded by me being told that they had offered a job to someone else for a summer school beginning in a few days time, but that they weren't sure if the other person would be able to do it. They therefore needed me to be 'on call' in case they needed me to work this school, and ready to fly to Italy in a few days. However, they were not committed to offering me that job in case the original person wanted it, in which case I would not hear from them i.e. they would not send a courtesy email if they were not giving me that job, rather only if they needed me. This was all without officially offering me a job, or saying yes I had passed the interview. All in all this was an interview which felt very much about the employer's needs, and inconsiderate of either my experience, skills, or requirements.
