I attended the open day in Ireland a few weeks ago. When I arrived I had no idea what to expect, as I thought it was just an information day. I brought my CV and two photos as requested, but wore jeans and didn't have the red lipstick, unlike every other female in the room. I honestly thought I was doomed, every female wore a skirt, heels, hair pinned back into a neat bun and flawless makeup. I sat at the back of the room and watched it all unfold. The two recruiters gave a brief introduction to the job and opened up the floor to questions. From my own experience, asking questions isn't always necessarily a good thing - especially if they have already answered the question in their presentation, you'll be noted for not paying attention. There was about 100 people at the open day, they then called you up one by one with your CV and photos for a quick chat. I watched others as they went up and tried to hear what was going on. I noticed that everyone was walking up like robots and not really showing any personality. So I thought this might be my chance to stand out and show my personality. So I approached the two ladies with a big smile asked how they were and introduced myself. I was speaking to them for about 3 mins. I wasn't feeling very confident given the amount of beautiful people in the room - also, a few girls commented on what I was wearing and said 'you'll know for the next open day'. Funnily enough, they didn't make it through to the next stage, but I did! It was a pretty savage experience, you go off and they will email if you were sucessful and if they want you to come back. If not, you won't hear anything. I sat with a group and I was first to receive an email. The rest unfortunately sat there refreshing their junk hoping the email got lost. Second round was about 16 people, we were split into two and given group activities. The recruiter then deliberated again, but decided to put all of us through to the final interview. The final interview was fine, once you are confident and take your time to anwer questions. I've been called to update my casual photos and send a copy of my passport. So I am hoping for a job offer before christmas I HOPE!
