Junior. Exclusively skill bases. Past driven. Not entrepreneurial. Boring. All digital and, boring. You receive stimulus to perform at a mediocre rate and if you're used to A-game you loose.

Thank you for sharing your impressions of the Chief of Staff role. We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t match your expectations. At TestGorilla, we aim to create roles that challenge and inspire, especially in key strategic positions like this one. Our skills-based hiring approach is designed to be objective and inclusive from the top of the funnel, but we understand that our structured, digital-first environment may not suit everyone’s working style especially those looking for a highly entrepreneurial setup. Your feedback is helpful as we continue to reflect on how we present roles and shape the candidate journey. Thank you again for your honesty and wish you all the best in your next opportunity.

      Interview

The interview started with the skill test (2hr), then a video interview (1hr), an assignment (3hr), and another video interview (1hr). I have to echo the sentiment in other reviews in terms of a certain disrespect towards candidates and an impersonal approach. I invested a total of 10 hours in the process (rounds + preparation) and was rejected over email by someone I had not spoken to in the process, with very generic feedback on something that barely came up in the interviews. I got the idea that they don't ask the same questions to anyone, therefore are not fairly comparing candidates. Their marketing is really great, but based on that I had expected them to have a different approach towards people that invest a lot of time and be a bit better organised internally. Interviews were rescheduled multiple times and most times it took them more than 24 hours to confirm after I sent my availability or chose a time, it was also a one-way process where of the total hours invested only 15 minutes were for me to ask questions. All that can happen, but I did expect a more personal and substantiated approach to rejecting someone after they invested so much time.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience going through our process. We try to keep our initial skills tests to around 60 minutes (for this role, it was 76 minutes), but appreciate this is still a sizeable time investment. We always aim to get back to candidates within the day, but occasionally time zone challenges mean we fall short of this target. Thank you for bringing this to our attention as we're hoping to do better here! We will take your feedback into consideration to be more thoughtful and set up the right expectations in the way we interact, including providing valuable feedback for candidates at the end of the process, as we recognize how important this is. Thank you again for your feedback and for taking the time to go through our assessment. We wish you all the best with your current search.

      Interview

After you apply you are required to an online assessment. This assessment lasts 76 minutes… It is absolutely crazy to expect without any personal interaction what so ever to just expect people to spend that much time on random irrelevant questions just to collect more data for your own platform. A complete and utter disrespect towards the applicant. At minimum HR should make a shortlist, be personal and after a first interview as suitable candidates to take this very wildish assessment. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We do understand that 76 minutes is a significant amount of time, and we are grateful that so many candidates prioritize their skills and feel happy to take our tests despite the time commitment. We don't ask for a resume or cover letter application, like some employers, which we know can take a long time to compile. We strongly believe in evaluating skills first, experience second. To assess this, we select a mix of carefully designed tests that align with job requirements. This approach promotes fairness by reducing biases from traditional hiring methods found in resume reviews. It allows candidates to demonstrate their skills before experience is considered, ensuring an objective and inclusive hiring process. Explore more on skills-based hiring and the benefits here: https://www.testgorilla.com/skills-based-hiring/ Our Talent Acquisition team, along with the hiring manager, shortlist the candidates based on the assessments and evaluate the assessments in their entirety, including multiple-choice questions, custom questions, and video responses. This helps us gain a comprehensive understanding of each candidate's capabilities. Thank you again for your feedback and for taking the time to go through our assessment. We wish you all the best with your current search.

      Interview

If you want to feel used and abused as a free guinea pig to test their own system then by all means, apply for a job a this hoax of a place. You are asked 8 to 12 questions in four categories and have to choose from multiple choices. It takes over an hour, all while BEING VIDEOTAPED. And of course, you're asked to provide your comments and feedback on the actual test, and since you're looking for a job, you do (which adds more time). May I remind you, all for free of course. And at the end, you get your score. You are scored on situational questions, where in practice, there are no right or wrong answers, unless as they have most likely done, pre-chosen the preferred answer based on their "values". Imagine putting their their employees through this? I though the test was more technical, for which, to a certain degree, I can possibly see going through something like this. If I was hiring solely on the technical abilities (and who in this day and age does so!?), I again see this being useful. I was applying for a Chief of Staff: it's all about strategy and execution. Needless to say the more the test went on the more I felt used and thought this was completely bogus. And now I see they already have a chief of staff person hired over two years ago and is still there (thinking the job was to replace this person). I later applied for another job, and the initial interview was a TestGorilla, I signed out right away. Any company who uses this is bogus and most likely data mining.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t have a good experience with our assessment and we wanted to be transparent and address some of your concerns. As a part of the proctoring measures, snapshots are taken of you every 30 seconds throughout the assessment. Only the company you applied to (which in this case was us, TestGorilla) has access to these snapshots and they are stored in compliance with GDPR. Our snapshot feature promotes fairness across all our test-takers and prevents cheating. We would never want to reward a candidate who's test scores are illegitimately high. As a skills-based hiring company, we strongly believe in evaluating skills first, experience second. To assess this, we select a mix of carefully designed tests that align with job requirements. This approach promotes fairness by reducing biases from traditional hiring methods found in resume reviews. It allows candidates to demonstrate their skills before experience is considered, ensuring an objective and inclusive hiring process. Explore more on skills-based hiring and the benefits here: https://www.testgorilla.com/skills-based-hiring/ Our assessment team is constantly working to refine the assessment process. We hope you'll consider giving our assessments another try in the future. We also are keen to stress that we opened the role because our current chief of staff is moving to a new opportunity internally, and we would never open a role just to test our product or collect data. In the meantime, we wish you all the best with your current search and thank you again for taking the time to go through our assessment.
