I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Apr 2021
Interview
2 rounds, one likely with your future mentor and one with their manager. Both ask about your resume/portfolio and ask technician questions. I’d say majority focused on design team experience and they have their own mechanical engineering fundamental questions
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Lots of technical stuff, know your circuits, stress strain diagram and heat transfer fundamentals. I remember being a pipe question with fluid flowing through it followed by heat transfer questions. Also asked how does a bolt work!
Smooth process, started by asking technical questions in the first interview, 2nd interview with manager and more on conceptual problem solving questions on their current project. 3rd interview is typically a long panel interview. Gave a generic feedback after not proceeding

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Feb 2026
Interview
This lasted for two weeks. one round of technical interview, one round of HM interview, and an on-site interview in Palo Alto with presentation and interview with five group members.
It was an ok experience, mostly circuit-related questions and some conceptual stuff. Make sure to review circuit analysis and other electrical engineering concepts that relate. Good luck. INterview lasted about an hour and It was with the senior engineer on the team in a location in California
