I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Austin, TX) in Jan 2021
Interview
1st -HR Screening (easy)
2nd- Voice interview with Engineering Staff , this was with a project engineer who had been with the company for several months. This was an honest conversation about their role and expectations.
3rd- 24hr Take Home Test (challenging). I guess I passed this portion because I moved onto the next round. There was not any feedback about the test results.
4th- Presentation / Panel Interview - This was easy, but I probably chose a poor topic to present on. I think the object here is to pick a topic that represents Tesla technology.

Question 1
Q: What would you say to Elon Musk about why you want to work at Tesla?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Tesla (Palo Alto, CA) in Apr 2024
Interview
It was typical interview as they go through multiple stages , sometimes it feels repetitive,But I guess that’s how it is . But the interview overall was a good experience
Very time taking. Initial HR round, Call with the hiring manager, take home test, presentation to the panel and interview with the panel. The process took more than 2 months. Professional and nice people.
It was pretty complicated. There are numerous stages and technical questions. They are also not looking to sponsor anyone. Further, they are not fully transparent regarding the salary. The technical question was a real case question and is actually challenging.
