Thanks for taking some time out of your day to write a review about your interview experience with us. We’re genuinely disappointed that it wasn’t a positive one. We’re grateful for the time you invested in us and I’m glad to see that you noticed how much of our team’s time we invested in getting to know you. It’s true, that on average, a candidate walking through our process will talk to 10-15 people (most in group settings). This serves 2 main purposes. First the feedback we get most often from candidates is that they get to know our team and our culture before making a decision to work with us. Secondly, we trust our team to make great decisions and you having the opportunity to meet a diverse group of people allows for us to get a variety of perspectives from people with different backgrounds.
In short, our intentional process helps us get to know you and you us.
You acknowledged this when you said to our team, “I feel seen. I feel like you really understand me.” during one of your interviews.
The contrast of your comments to us in interviews and this review are stark and leave us pause. Obviously you’re hurt and didn’t feel we were clear with you on why we didn’t move forward with you as a candidate. It’s unclear what you mean by “legally discriminate” so we want to bring some clarity. Tenstreet in no way unlawfully discriminates against individuals in any manner on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, age, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), disability, or genetic information whether related to their credit or otherwise. As a company we have a right to conduct certain background checks and do exercise that right for the protection of our customers, employees, and other stakeholders. We strictly follow all laws relating to background checks, including that each individual receives a valid disclosure and authorizes such background checks in writing prior to procuring them. Further, we carefully review and conduct an individualized assessment with regard to all background checks.
There are a variety of factors that go into someone getting hired at Tenstreet and while we’d disagree with some of the other representations of the process, what was communicated to you and the reasoning why we chose not to move on, we still wish the experience had been more positive from your perspective. It is an intensive process and we believe that our commitment to making sure each person we hire is going to be successful, regardless of the role they have applied for, is one of the reasons why people love working here. Work doesn’t feel like work when the role and a person’s potential and experience fit together so well. We wish you the best in your search and deeply appreciate the time you invested in the process.
