The interview process was personable and reasonable at first. I was able to ask questions about the organization and got to meet several people within the organization. After I was offered the position, I started asking more questions to assess the organization’s gaps, the Executive
Director quickly became uncomfortable and guarded. I asked for time to think about the offer and asked additional questions about the requirements of the position. I was told that “I should be more thankful” for receiving an offer and was rushed to make a decision. In the following days, I accepted my offer but it was rescinded by the board due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Please be weary if you are a person of color looking for an equitable work environment. This was a micro aggressive experience to say the least.
