      Sales Floor Team Member Interview

      18 May 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Melbourne
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target Australia (Melbourne) in May 2015

      Interview

First off, thanks to everyone who posted their interview questions in glass door. It was really, really helpful. You'll be fine if you can answer all the questions you find. It was a group interview so there were two parts to it. The first part was a group assessment. One by one, we'd come up to the front of the room in front of everyone and the store manager (one of the five assessors) would hand us some random product like a sponge or perfume or a box of tissues. Then we had one minute to try and sell the product to everyone. Some people struggled, some others performed exceptionally well. This was a test of selling skills and how confident you were in speaking publicly. The second part of the group assessment was where we were in table groups (5-6 people) and there were two boxes of children's jigsaw puzzles (24 pieces) and we had to solve them within a short time frame. Some table groups had a piece mixed up with another table's and they had to move around the room to find it. This was a team-building skill test. We were meant to have a situational question interview thing, but we had way too many people in our session to do it in time. So we moved straight on to the second part of the interview: the 1:1 interview. In the 1:1 interview, I had previous experience so they didn't need to ask me too much. They just asked about my availability, if I preferred part time or casual, my previous role at Target and my responsibilities. If there was any question of note, it was 'why do you want to work at Target?' They told me it would take 5-10 business days for an offer to come if I was successful. On the seventh business day, they called me up and said I was successful and they would email me info necessary for induction. Overall, everyone was super nice and energetic so it was pretty comforting and stuff. Just read all these entries in glassdoor and you'll feel confident in passing.
