      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Talentfoot (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

Conversational, relationship-first tone Talentfoot is a recruiting firm, so their business is built on people and trust. The call usually feels more like a thoughtful conversation than a rigid interview. They’re assessing how you communicate, how you come across, and whether you build rapport easily. 2. Your story (this is the centerpiece) Expect to walk through: Your background and career moves Why you went from SDR → AE → recruiting (they’ll definitely dig here) What you actually enjoy doing vs. what you’ve just done They’re trying to understand your “throughline”—not just your resume. 3. What you’re looking for (they care a lot about this) Since they place candidates, they’ll want clarity on: Types of roles (sales, recruiting, client-facing, etc.) Company stage (startup vs. established) Compensation expectations What motivates you beyond money If you’re vague here, it makes their job harder—so they’ll push for specifics. 4. Soft skills > technical skills They’ll evaluate: Communication style Emotional intelligence Energy and presence Ability to listen and respond thoughtfully Given your background, this is actually where you can stand out the most. 5. Light vetting / credibility checks Nothing aggressive, but expect questions like: “Why are you leaving your current role?” “What are your strengths and weaknesses?” “Tell me about a time you influenced someone” They’re making sure there are no red flags before introducing you to clients. 6. Positioning you (this is unique to firms like them) Toward the end, they may start: Giving feedback on how you come across Suggesting roles you hadn’t considered Talking about how they’d “pitch” you to a client
