I applied online and was promptly reached by Steve. He was very pleasant and after a phone conversation, he emailed me a technical challenge (like one of those from hacker rank).
I felt like I hadn't done great on it, but he was very encouraging on our email thread and said the team still wanted to meet with me. Meeting the lead engineers in the team I'd be working on was great, and we chatted about their stack and what their application was trying to accomplish. I didn't feel put on the spot or like I had to say something clever, it was all fairly comfortable. Being my first remote job though, I did wish they would do interviews with their cameras on since that would've probably eased my nerves a little bit more.
Ultimately, I received a job offer and accepted it.
