I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at TEKsystems (Irving, TX) in Feb 2014
Interview
I was called by TEKsystems about an opportunity to get into the information security at Bank of America. I took the opportunity and ended up going to the TEksystems building in Irving to do an in person interview. I showed up in business casual and talked to my recruiter about the job. I asked what I would be doing and asked what the pay would be.

Question 1
Asked me why I wanted to be in the information security role?
There was a phone and in-person interview with TekSystems and then subsequent phone and in-person interviews with the company I was contracted to. TekSystems provided coaching ahead of the interview with the customer.
The recruiting process felt rushed and disorganized. The job I was initially pitched did not match the role I interviewed for, and communication around responsibilities and expectations was vague. I was eventually offered a contract position, but not for the role I interviewed for, and I was pressured to accept verbally immediately before seeing anything in writing. I actually thought this was a scam until I was given a Teksystems login to onboard. The paperwork I was given lacked any details about the job itself. I was never even told what the job title was.
When I hesitated because this whole process was sketchy and I also had concerns about the contract and how it might conflict with my existing work, I was told there would be “negative consequences” if I didn’t sign the contract which felt threatening and unprofessional. I decided to walk.
Met with recruiter and account manager, schedule two rounds of interview with the end client and received an offer to work in a contract position. After the interviews, the recruiter worked with me to explain the process and next steps.
