Unpleasant experience. After a phone screen and completing a coding challenge, I was asked to come in for an onsite interview. The people setting up the interviews couldn't have been more helpful and considerate. I wish the same could be said for the actual development team. I was very nervous but the first interviewer seemed helpful and interested in my thought process and what I was doing. The second interviewer was sitting right next to me on his laptop going through my Linkedin, reading emails and looking at his calendar while I tried to solve the problem (very distracting). He would randomly interject to explain something about the problem in a very condescending manner. Basically, he wasn't listening and when he saw I wasn't solving the problem right away dismissed me... literally. He said he was cancelling my other two interviews because they want someone that doesn't have to look at documentation (at the beginning he said I could look anything up) and that was it. Thanks bro.
Unfortunately, technical interviews are not easy for most people (including myself) and I hope some of these companies learn that a little empathy goes a long way.
