The process involved two on-site interviews in Guildford with different senior stakeholders. Both interviews covered similar areas, including experience, technical knowledge and approach to the role. The discussions focused on a mix of technical accounting, commercial understanding and how I would approach the Financial Controller position. There was also an opportunity to talk through prior experience and how it would translate into the role. The process felt open and conversational while still being productive. I came away with a clear understanding of the company, the expectations of the role and how the finance function operates.
Both interviewers had different styles but were approachable and created a comfortable environment for discussion.
While the overall experience was positive and feedback was encouraging, the role was ultimately filled by an internal candidate. It would have been helpful to have clarity earlier in the process if internal options were being considered.
