Relatively simple, just have to focus when you go in to get your certification and they will teach you everything you need to know. You will be asked regular interview questions as well as availability, location, ability to complete the tasks, etc.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
When are you available? Do you have any planned vacations?
I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Sweetwater Pools (TX) (Houston, TX) in Mar 2011
Interview
For lifeguarding, Sweetwater requires all of its employees to take the lifeguarding course through the company so that ends up being the interview to be a lifeguard. If you are rude and disrespectful during class, the people in the office will be made aware.
For Assistant Manager/Manager, you go in to the sweetwater office and have a sit down with HR. It is very simple and as long as you are logical and understand what it means to be professional you will likely be offered the position

Question 1
Five of your friends show up to your pool to swim; they are not members of the pool. What do you do?
I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Sweetwater Pools (TX) (Houston, TX) in Apr 2011
Interview
There was no interview process. You contact the company and fill out a few applications. Then you have to sign up for Red Cross classes to obtain certifications. Overall the process is fairly simple. You have the option of paying for the class via first paycheck. In addition, you are required to pay for your lifeguard uniform, again you have the option of paying for everything yourself or having it come from your first paycheck.
