My interview process was thorough, but it was necessary to make sure it was a good fit for both the company and myself. The CEO is open and direct about where he's at and his vision, and is trying to build the right team to get him there.
He asks some "out of the box" questions to try and understand your personality better, to make sure you'd be a great job function fit, as well as a great culture fit too. I enjoyed the process and accepted the offer.
I now sit in on almost every interview we have and can be sure that we focus on finding the right person for the company based on those same 2 parameters (the best job function and culture fits we can find), regardless of what race, nationality, religion, or gender they may be.
