Staxmatic interview questions

Two rounds of interviews. Overall I felt the interview process was easy, mostly because it was unclear what I was even interviewing for so there were no standard interview questions. I applied for Project Manager and in both interviews they had “multiple positions we could put you in right now.” There was talk of purchasing issues I could fix but ultimately was offered the project engineer position. Ultimately based on the benefits program having a delayed start and the overall interview process it definitely gave the vibe of “we’ll abuse your worth ethic and you’ll quit before you get there” which… I like to work so that’s fine. Can’t run me off with hard work. That said the red flags for me were if you’re going to use my personal time, expecting overtime, then I expect the flexibility to check my personal phone or work from where I need to (remotely) outside of office hours. I’m not posting up in a fishbowl style office with sterile lighting for 12-15 hour days cutting all ties to my life. They emphasized having glass everything to be collaborative but the comments of “if I see [this or that]” gave “we promote people watching each other to tattle for points” type vibes. Ultimately they pulled the offer when I countered. Not sure if it was the vacation I asked for or if it’s because I crossed out the “and any other tasks” part of the job description due to everyone saying they could find 8 things for me to do. The math on the salary means I make less if I’m pulling 80 hours, but regardless it wasn’t a loss. Little did they know I was texting my friend that I was leaving the interview the minute he walked in, 35 mins late. The only reason I even countered was because they offered a hefty salary. Had that not been the number I would have declined on the spot. If you’re looking for a higher salary to bank some money, don’t ask questions and sign the paper.. stash what you can before you’re burnt out or fired. I prefer the longevity approach and like to build myself within companies. The “if we don’t see you work it’s not happening” mentality isn’t what works for me. ** Full candor there’s no option for they made an offer and countered.
