Interview
It's been a while since I interviewed, but it was an extremely effective interview process. It takes a lot of time and effort, but it's worth it for both parties to be able to figure out if it's a good fit. It gives you an excellent sense of what working at Spotlight Branding is like, and the farther you get in the process, the more bought-in you become. Really appreciated the attention to detail and focus on ensuring YOU really want to work there (as opposed to just trying to decide if they want you to work there).

Question 1
They asked me to demonstrate my writing skills (with assurances my work would not be used if I wasn't hired)
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Spotlight Branding (Cornelius, NC) in Oct 2021
Interview
Initially applied via email as outlined in the job posting on LinkedIn. I received a response same-day asking me to fill out essentially a quiz in order to move forward with the hiring process. The quiz consisted of things I would be doing on a daily basis (writing a blog, posting on social media, etc.) The quiz was not hard, and after submitting it I heard back within 2 days. After the quiz I was instructed to take two personality tests before coming to the interview later that week.
The interview itself took about 4-5 hours, so you will have to take a half day. I genuinely enjoyed my time with the interview and it was not that difficult. Everyone was easy to talk to and respectful of me and my time. There is also another quiz to take during this time that will take about 2-3 hours; it is very similar to the quiz taken before.
Now for the negative: I said that they were respectful of my time, and they were, when I was in their office. After taking a half day PTO and roughly 5 hours out of my day to come interview, I did not hear back for nearly a week and a half. I interviewed late in the week and was told I would hear back by Wednesday the following week. Wednesday evening rolls around and I hadn’t heard anything, so I sent a follow-up email and received NO response. On Friday morning I sent another follow-up email and did not receive a response until Saturday evening telling me that I was not chosen to continue with the interview process.
Overall, very unprofessional way to treat someone who took so much time out of their day to come and interview. If I had heard back in a timely manner like I was told I would be, this would have been a net positive experience. Spotlight seems like a very cool place to work and it’s a shame they treat their interviewees so unprofessionally.
