I applied three times to Spotify, London. I am a music passionate (I even have my songs on Spotify), I perfectly know their product (I use Spotify many hours per day), and my qualifications and skills match the job specs, so I was very excited about the idea of working for Spotify.
First time, around one and a half year ago, I submitted my CV and wasn't even contacted. These things happen.
Second time, around 6 months ago, I applied to "Machine Learning Engineer" role. I was tracking the application almost daily without any change in my application, and three weeks later the role suddenly changed to "Senior Machine Learning Engineer" and I was obviously rejected as I don't have qualifications for a senior role yet.
Third time, few weeks ago, I applied to "Data Scientist" position again, with a cover letter personalised for Spotify showing that my profile fits perfectly with the role. This time I was contacted by HR for an initial call. We agreed on a time, and the recruiter cancelled me 15min before. After that, he was not answering my emails and it took me another couple of weeks to arrange another HR call. The call went really well, but next day I received a template rejection email.
I'd like to attach here my CV, Cover letter and Job Specs to prove that my profile perfectly fits their demands, but I won't for privacy issues. I spend many hours preparing for Spotify and writing the cover letter -that most probably they didn't even read-, as I believe that i'd really enjoy it and be able to make a difference in the company, so it really annoyed me that they have rejected me before any technical or extensive interview.
Companies should understand that applicants are not just numbers but people that are fighting to fulfil their dreams.
