Two stage process (to begin with)
Initial stage - HR and CTO present.
Asked relevant questions based on a mix of C.V. experience, previous projects that were similar that I had worked on and then some ITIL and process based questions. Ended up asking me some ‘management style’ based questions.
Good until this point.
Stage 2 Face to face interview (Liverpool)
Met by HR and interviewed by someone who has not officially started there yet. The primary interviewer had an urgent need to be elsewhere and could not attend.
The interview was more of a conversation about approach and methodology in resolving specific service management problems. The classic advice is if you are not being interviewed by the right person to leave the interview suggesting it be re-arranged but it wasn’t immediately clear to me a) the current interviewer had not yet joined the company and b) that others wouldn’t join later.
Follow up (Stages 3/4/5 & 6)
Numerous sessions being promised by HR information no expectation set was met- none. Only and luckily for me because I had another role to go to was I able to exert enough pressure - eventually an offer came out which was too low and with the wrong title. Contact with HR proved hopeless and eventually spoke to the CTO who agreed with me regarding the role (and yet still would not change the title). After CTO said he agreed he called me the following day he told me that after probation would go up etc but would not put this in writing.
Offer rejected there and then on the phone - beware!
Poor experience - recruiting new employees is an opportunity to show off, a red carpet moment - this definitely wasn’t that.
