      Call Center Agent Interview

      2 Jul 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Southwest Airlines (Atlanta, GA) in May 2016

      Interview

First I applied online, and then I got a call a month later to say that I would have a phone interview the following day. I got a call the following day and then was set up for F2F on the third day. I went for F2F and was told I was being moved forward, and so I did DT and Finger printing. The background then started. The company Southwest uses has people in Phillipines working for it, so you can imagine the quality of their BG checks. I was working for a British law firm in Qatar before I came to the US, and in the BG report, they said they spoke to somebody who is pretty much non-existent in the Qatar office, so I am not sure where they got that info from. I have been working as a freelancer online, and Southwest insisted I should have paystubs for that job. I don't think anybody who works online as a freelancer actually gets paystubs. I did the work while in Kenya and Qatar, so a pay stub really wasn't of much importance. I worked as a CSA for 5 years between 2007 and 2012 in Kenya. This was for a leading British Airline which unfortunately closed it's doors. Southwest asked me to prove I worked for this airline. I sent them a paystub and the final letter that one receives when being laid off or when leaving a job. Southwest said that was not enough. They wanted more than one paystub (not sure if I am supposed to be saving those things and then traveling around the world with them and that too after 4 years of losing the job) and they said that the letter that I gave them "could have been written by my friend!" This shocked me and I feel that honesty is not the best policy if you want a job at Southwest. Lie to them and give them just the job that you can actually verify with pay stubs and with "legal stuff" as they put it. Southwest, anybody who has just moved to the US will NOT have their paystubs with them of previous jobs, because out there, THE PAYSTUBS ARE NOT ELECTRONIC, and carrying small pieces of paper around does not make sense when you can carry just enough. Get your act together and at least employ some SMART people to do your background checks. Call our references! The letters that we give you from International companies are not written by our friends, they are genuine especially if we have more than one letter from a former company!!
