      Customer Marketing Specialist Interview

      20 Sept 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SmartBear (Boston, MA) in Oct 2016

      Interview

I had a phone interview with the Hiring Manager for this position. Based on the job description, it seemed I might have been qualified for this role, but the questions that I was asked throughout the phone screen indicated that they were looking for someone with quite a different background than what I had. It became clear to me early in the conversation that I was not a fit for this role. Based on the tone of the conversation, it was obvious that the Hiring Manager did not want to move forward. I was very aware I would not be moving forward in the interview process. I did find it quite rude that I never received a follow-up email regarding the rejection. It should be standard courtesy to close the loop with a candidate - especially after taking a half hour of their time to drill them with questions that were not relevant to their previous experience.

      Customer Marketing Specialist Interview

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SmartBear (Somerville, MA)

      Interview

I applied online, had a phone screen with the hiring manager, and was invited into the office to interview. The manager was incredibly down to earth, approachable, and nice. I had previously informed them of my salary expectations and thought that was no issue. After a 15 minute critical thinking test and 3 hour interview with the team, I thought everything was great. When they made me an offer it was significantly less than I had previously mentioned, which they knew going into my interview. They didn't budge on negotiations. A huge waste of my time.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. We are sorry you had a negative experience. The entire team really loved you. Unfortunately, the position was re-budgeted at the start of the new year while we were mid process with you. We are glad we met you and happy to hear your positive experience with the hiring manager. Apologies that this change was not communicated with you during the process after it was finalized. I hope in the future you would consider us again.
