SmartAsset Software-architect interview questions

The first interview was with an HR rep. Everything went well here and I moved onto the next stage. The next stage was confusing because I received an email that was a 45 minute interview, but mentioned to have an interactive coding assignment. At the time I didn't quite understand why a coding assignment was so early on for a SW Architect position. By the end of the interview I realized, Smart Asset had a low to mid range developer interview me for a high level position of a SW architect giving a coding exam in about 20 minutes with a junior person watching (who I initially thought was an HR rep, because they didn't introduce themselves until I asked at the end). After 2 weeks their HR responded, passing on me. And I responded with: I don't appreciate my time being wasted, nor an unfair opportunity for an assessment to go into your records. Please remove my information from your system.
