      Sr Site Reliability Engineer Interview

      10 Jun 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Bengaluru
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smarsh (Bengaluru) in Jan 2021

      Interview

Interview process was overall very good, completed in almost a month's time. 1) Got a call from one of the Recruitment Team's HR whom seems to be technically good when compared to other HR's in the industry, had an initial discussion about my background, job profile etc. 2) He quickly scheduled 1st round of interview with and then like that it went on for almost 5-6 rounds of interviews. 3) All the technical panel were really friendly, in fact few of the rounds I didn't feel as an interview rather it was more like a discussion. 4) Overall 3 technical rounds, 2 behavioral rounds and 1 HR round 5) Within 45 days time they rolled out the offer which was also quite competitive and they were ready to buy my notice period too. Overall it was a very pleasant experience with the Recruitment team the way they scheduled the interviews, giving feedbacks appropriately, etc.

      Question 1

Challenges I faced in my previous organization and how did I overcome it, Devops/SRE principles followed, and few other technical questions like DNS name resolution etc.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smarsh (Belfast, Northern Ireland) in Jun 2021

      Interview

Overall, a relaxed and informal process, relatively speaking. Next steps were openly discussed and feedback was received quickly after each stage. Had two initial quick chats with team manager and talent acquisition to discuss what each of us are looking for. Was invited to a longer, more technical call in front of a panel consisting of team manager and managers of teams that I would be working with. This was very much an open conversation around how I like to work, what I want from a role and what I could expect in this role. It was much more about discussing what I could bring to the company rather than drilling me for obscure technical details.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time you were faced with a technical problem and how you resolved it? How do you manage burnout? Ideally, what percentage of time would you spend working with a team vs independently? Describe yourself in three words.
