Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. It felt as though the panel had already selected a preferred candidate. The interviewers’ tone came across as unprofessional at times, and some questions, such as “How do you collaborate?”, were posed in a way that suggested a lack of clarity or purpose. Even when answering, they seemed to be looking for any gap in the answer. The overall atmosphere felt more like an interrogation than a genuine conversation, with an excessive focus on minute details.
Given the current performance of Slough Borough Council, as acknowledged in their own workforce strategy, it’s clear that cultural and managerial improvements are needed or maybe even a whole restructuring. The interview gave off strong micromanagement vibes, which reinforces the need for the change they themselves highlight. Based on this experience, I’ve decided not to proceed with my application.

Question 1
What exact metrics do you use to track performance?
I’ve just completed an interview for a Head of role. Appalling experience... I won’t progress my application. It is clear to me why your organisation is bankrupt, people like this 'lady' have worked for the organisation for almost a decade.
Disrespectful, incompetent and inappropriate…
It is now clear to why the Glassdoor scores are dismal.

Question 1
Random inappropriate, what do you think and feel questions... No formal interview skills, deplorable behaviour, interrupting, aggressive restating of arbitrary questions... atrocious behaviour, no skills...
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Slough Borough Council (Slough, Berkshire, South East England, England) in Nov 2020
Interview
10 minute which was hardly enough time even though it was for a 2-month contract. It was done via Teams due to Covid-19. I felt 10 minutes was not enough time.
