I thought only I experienced the worst interview ever but it seems like many did here.
I was called to the office for interviews as the director of engineering doesn't like virtual rounds, so after travelling for 45mins. I get to attend the interview.
In the first initial 10 mins of introduction the director accuses me that I am switching jobs only for better compensation and says he will give me almost the same compensation as the current org but I will get more knowledge. This is even though I have worked in only one organisation since the beginning of my career for almost 4 years. People who want higher compensation usually keep switching every first or second year.
The director didn't ask one practical question in the entire 1 and half hour interview /discussion he took. He expects a person with 3 years experience in frontend to know about advanced architecture and patterns on the backend. The interviewer has read many books and asks fancy engineering terms to explain them. Below are some of the non practical questions. In the end he expected me to read a book and solve a coding problem using that pattern to be selected for the next round.
TLDR: Expects the experience of senior FAANG architects by a 3 years experience candidate who has worked in tier 2 or tier 3 companies and gives the same compensation.
