I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Shogun
Interview
The interview process was really long to say the least, at first you get positive vibes from everyone that is part of the process. After a few weeks go by and numerous interviews are done, you start to realize that everyone is asking the same questions over and over. I think the negative aspect of this interview process is the fact that it is pretty obvious that there wasn't a lot of structure to the long interview process, just a whole bunch of people having "informal chats". in the end I think that there is only one "wizard behind the curtain" though, who is the one who makes the end decisions, and that one interview was not a enjoyable one at all. Don't get me wrong, I think that the company seems like a place that might be good to work at, although I also think that with the growth phase, there is a lot of poor structure and the alignment to manage the overall growth and this is going in a direction that will end up being a negative environment long term in my opinion. I found another job that was way better suited for me, so I am glad that the one interview didn't go well. although the one thing I think was a bit "tacky" was after a 5 week process with meeting so many people and committing s much of my time, I got a PFO canned response, not a direct communication from the hiring manager. I think that says a lot personally.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
generic interview questions that you would expect, and the same ones over and over.
Thank you for taking the time to be transparent and leave a review. One of our core values at Shogun is 'Work in the open', so we really appreciate all types of feedback.
We try our best to have each interviewer focus on specific attributes to minimize question overlap, so your feedback is timely and will help us to continue to improve. As far as the canned email rejection - that should not have happened.
Any candidate who makes it past the hiring manager interview receives a call in addition to a personalized email if a voice message was left. When declining your profile in our system, the recruiter accidentally clicked the wrong check box which resulted in you getting the default email. Your feedback will minimize this happening in the future as each recruiter is going to be more mindful of that error going forward.
We wish you all the best in your job search!
The entire process was a little long but actually really enjoyable. Everyone I communicated with not only respected my time, questions, and work experience they were a lot of fun to speak with. The recruiter I worked with kept me updated and provided feedback constantly. Shogun made what is normally a relatively stressful process really enjoyable. It's very clear they are trying to make sure they hire the right person but also give you a chance to make sure Shogun is right for you too.
