      Interview

A Manager reached out to me in January, the same day I applied and asked me to email back instructions on how to make a PB&J Sandwich as well as a screen shot of my typing test score. I did that and received a response the same day requesting times I was available for a phone interview. I responded with times and did not receive an email back confirming what time I would be called. The next day, however, I did receive a call during one of the time slots I had mentioned. While that was unusual, the phone interview went well and I was scheduled for a final on-site interview for the next business day. There, I met with 3 Managers for 1 hour, one of whom I had spoken to previously during my phone interview. I was provided a timeline of 10 business days out from that final interview of when they wanted to have offers out. I received a call 7 business days later with an offer and I was told they wanted an answer by the next business day. I had questions about benefits, and with other opportunities pending, I wanted to make the best informed decision with the information I thought was important so I asked for a couple more days (2 business days- that puts at on the same day they had originally told me they wanted to have offers out by). They answered my first set of questions regarding the benefits and gave me a couple of days to think it over. Then things took a strange turn the morning I was set to provide my answer when aid emailed the hiring Manager and mentioned that I was curious to see if it would be possible to shadow someone on their team, (as I was offered a slightly different role from the one I interviewed for). She replied 4.5 hours later saying "Hi, Thank you for your consideration and time during the interview process. We are unable to insert additional steps in our hiring process, and will need to more forward with other candidates at this time. Thanks again for your time, and I wish you success in your job search." It wouldn't have been a deal-breaker for me if I couldn't shadow someone for their team, but I guess my non-compliance in their brief window for accepting the position and wanting to protect myself while doing so was a deal-breaker for them. It gives me relief that I will not be working with them and after reading plentiful negative feedback from employees who have actually worked there, it seems to ring true.
