Interview
The interview process was very unprofessional and has really tarnished my impression of this organization. I had four interviews over several months, with weeks going by between rounds without any communication. The most baffling moment was when, after weeks of no contact, they reached out at 7pm to schedule my final interview for the very next day.
A week after telling me that I was one of their top two candidates, they reached out to all three of my professional references. While I understand that a reference check is not a guarantee of an offer, it is a very positive sign and represents significant time commitment for the references themselves. When I ultimately didn’t receive an offer, I assumed that the reference checks were just a way of ticking boxes so that they could quickly extend an offer to me if their first choice candidate declined.
Even more disappointing than not receiving an offer was the automated, corporate rejection email they sent me. For a candidate who invested a significant amount of time and energy into the process, the minimum courtesy would have been a brief, personalized message acknowledging their efforts.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 9 months. I interviewed at Share Our Strength in Oct 2024
Interview
I felt manipulated and strung along during this lengthy hiring process. I interviewed for two different roles, and each one involved months of waiting and uncertainty. After investing over nine months and five interviews into the second role, I ultimately never received an offer. While the final interview seemed promising (they indicated it was down to me and one other candidate), they lacked the decency to call me back with an update; instead, it took another month, and multiple follow-up attempts from me, to finally get a response. This treatment was truly dehumanizing, especially coming from a non-profit organization focused on humanity. The hardest part was realizing that after so many months of conversation—to the point where I even had the hiring manager's cell number—I truly believed I was building a professional relationship.

Interview
The screening interview was pretty standard. I ended the call feeling good about the screening interview, but then was disappointed not to receive a response when I inquired about the next steps.
