      Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Shaka Wear (Houston, TX)

      Interview

I recently interviewed for a role at Shaka Wear, going through two rounds: a phone interview and an in-person meeting with the CEO. After a lengthy interview process, I was left frustrated when the CEO stopped responding, essentially ghosting me. To make matters worse, I was later contacted by someone else from the company to interview for the same position, which felt like the process was being reset entirely. During the in-person interview, I was taken aback by a comment from the CEO. He mentioned that he had recently fired four engineers and that the role was now open. He then added that having fewer people would make managing the team easier. This left me confused and uncomfortable, as it seemed to reflect a concerning attitude toward employee turnover and management. Overall, my experience with this company was disappointing. It raised serious red flags about the leadership style and company culture, making me hesitant to consider them as a potential employer. I would advise others to be cautious and carefully assess the values and communication practices of the leadership before pursuing opportunities here.
