      Payroll Specialist Interview

      13 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Canonsburg, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sentric (Canonsburg, PA) in Jun 2020

      Interview

Sentric HR contacted me in the middle of June for a phone interview regarding a Payroll Specialist position that was available. The first interview was a phone interview that lasted about 30 minutes. I was told they would schedule second interviews for select candidates but that I would be told either way due to the current circumstances. It seemed the phone interview went well, and this was confirmed when I received an email to schedule a second interview. The second interview was conducted via Ring Central due to the pandemic. I interviewed with three different staff members who all asked different questions. The second interview lasted an hour and a half. I felt this interview went well but a few things really stood out to me. They said it would take 2 – 3 years to fully learn the position and that you could manage 125 separate companies in this role which sounds absolutely stressful. It seemed there wouldn’t be a work life balance and it sounded as if they were looking for someone to dedicate their life to the company. There were also some really odd questions that had absolutely nothing to do with my ability to perform the job. Again, I was told I would hear either way due to the pandemic because so many people are really looking for work due to the circumstances. Well, fast forward almost two weeks and Sentric has not contacted me regarding the position. It’s not the fact that I didn’t receive an offer, it’s the fact that I had three different staff members at this company lie straight my face during a time where a lot of people are out of work. This simple act shows how this company operates and how they are only out for themselves. It angers me that I spent over two hours interviewing with this company and the rejected candidates weren’t even worth an email stating they decided to go in a different direction. Too often the senior staff at organizations forget that they were once in their candidate’s positions and instead of choosing compassion, choose to get a power trip by drilling candidates and treating them with disrespect. It doesn’t take much to send a pre-written decline email to the candidates who were not selected. Steer clear of Sentric unless you enjoy working for a self-centered company who only views candidates and employees as numbers who can benefit them, not genuine people who have feelings and deserve to be treated with dignity.
