I had one interview, very informal and relaxed, held at a local restaurant. I was bought lunch. It rapidly became apparent that my interviewers (company CEO and right-hand man) had no experience in the field of GIS and that they were looking for someone who could guide them through the processes involved in setting up, from scratch, a company GIS that could be used in relation to an innovative project for which they had just won the contract. Their main interest in employing me stemmed from the fact that I personally owned a laptop capable of running ArcGIS - and a fully licensed, fully functional, copy of the software. If they hired me (and they did, the next day) they got me, they got my experience AND they got the software.
