      Sales Associate Interview

      24 Mar 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Monaca, PA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Sears (Monaca, PA) in Mar 2010

      Interview

I had two interviews with two different employees of this store. Both interviews went very well in my perspective. The second interview I was told to my face it wouldn't of gone as far as it did if I wasn't able to interact with customers, I was told that I obviously didn't have a problem doing so. I was told that I would be notified within two days of the out come weather they would offer me a position or not. About 4 weeks ago I had an interview with a manager for either Loss Prevention or Sales Associate. He said there were no positions open for Loss Prevention and that there was a position open in Major Appliances for a Sales Associate, but he would have to forward it to that manager. A week later I received a call from the Major Appliances manager on a Saturday. I called him back the following Monday he was not in. I played phone tag for a week trying to get a hold of him. I reached him the following Saturday, and he had me meet him the next Monday for an interview. He said that it was a Commissioned Sales Associate position that used a draw system. He said that the interview would not of gone as far as it did if I wasn't able to speak to new people, but obviously you don't have that problem. He told me that he would get back to me within two days with the outcome weather they would offer me a position or not, after he goes over it with his superior. I gave him a day and called him that Wednesday, and he wasn't in. Once again I played phone tag with this gentleman for another week and didn't reach him until the Friday after that week. That day I called asked for this gentlemen and he said it was him and I told him who I was, and "click" abruptly I was hung up on. I called right back thinking it was maybe a mistake, and "click" once again. I called back roughly 10 minutes later a different gentleman answered and I said is this so and so and they said no just a minute, roughly 20 seconds later "click". I was hung up on three times with no explanation of the outcome of my employment, or no time to speak. I contacted the store manager and told him what happened to me, he didn't show much symphony towards except that he was sorry, and that he would take care of it. I told him how he could get a hold of me if he needed to, it’s been three days and I haven't heard anything. I would of rather of them told me the position has been filled, or that I'm over or under qualified than to of been hung up on three times, that is very unprofessional and I don't know how a company can run a business with employees like this.

I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Sears (Clay, NY)

      Interview

It was my first job, and it was a fairly standard interview at the time. It was difficult, because the hiring manager was not there, despite having should been. I was told to check back for three days in a row, before the person that made me the offer just happened to be there and decided to conduct an interview after three days of checking back.
