I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sears (Huntsville, AL)
Interview
Got several calls from recruiters about a job fair. Went to the job fair, and was asked to complete an application followed by a battery of aptitude tests that covered basic electrical, heating and cooling, laundry, cooking and dish appliances. Following the tests I was interviewed by 2 people in an office. One was an HR rep, the other the hiring manager, they both seemed unusually polite and friendly (which I discovered later was because they put all management through motivational speaking classes). The intereview went on for approx. 10 mins with many of the standard questions, then I was asked to speak with the Lead Technician and he more or less was trying to read me and see if what I was telling the management was accurate or if I was just full of crap. From there, I was called back into the office where the used a metric on the computer to plug in all my qualifications to determine my starting salary, and they presented me with a verbal offer of employment. From there is was approx a two week waiting period during which I received my officail written offer letter, and waited on results for drug screen and background checks.

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sears
Interview
I had to have a BCI, and DMV check done before an offer was made. Afterwards a drug screening and physical were scheduled and paid for, along with updating or showing proof of current immunization schedule, particularly Tetanus (scrapes and small hand cuts are inevitable in this type of work), and the flu shot is highly recommended since you'll be going into peoples home who might be contagious during flu season.
