      13 Jun 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sears in May 2012

      Interview

I did the online process and got a call within 2 weeks. When I had a arived a guy from the auto center was complaining about the last person he had interviewed and it was the talk of the HR department. When I went to interview I was asked five quiestion and to tell a little about myself. once done I was told I would get a call on Monday. Monday came around and nothing I waited a week and called back . I had to end up calling three times before getting an answer saying they went with someone else. Waste of time and unorganized.

      Shoe Department Interview

      26 Jul 2009
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sears in Jul 2009

      Interview

I filled out the application online then I called HR and told Mr. N that I heard the company was hiring for merchandising and pricing he said I need someone in shoes. I said I really want to work for your co. I told him I’ve call several times and I really would like to have an interview with you. He asked me for my ss #, I’m sure to pull up my application and told me to come in on Thursday for an interview. I went to the HR Department and was greeted and interviewed by X. After introducing herself, she talked about the company and told me what they were looking for in an employee. I was asked to tell a little about myself. Then she asked me a few questions like: tell me a time when, how was it resolved, have you ever exceeded expectations? (You can’t just say yes you have to give an example). Tell me about a time when you acted with integrity? What is your availability etc? She said “I know you applied for full time but this position only offer part time is this ok” then she told me the duties of the position. After that, she asked me if I had any question for her. I was told I would receive a call at 2:00 pm that day they had more applicants and she would let me know their decision then. I got a call at 2:51 pm telling me thank you for applying but we went with another candidate. I asked her if she could tell me where I went wrong in the interview so that I could do better in the future. She said you did fine, you answered the question with specific examples which most people don’t she said. Then she said the assessment test I took online when I applied for the job was below their hiring score. What I didn’t understand is why did they even set an interview with me if my score as too low. That was a waste of time. However, on the other hand it was good practice for my next interview with another co. Wish me well.
