      Systems Administrator Interview

      1 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Schrödinger (New York, NY)

      Interview

Got invitation for interview via email with their recruiter. Then the first round was with the lead tech, this phone call lasted around an hour. Then there was another round scheduled in the next week, this took approximately an hour, hour and a half. The lead technician on that call assured me that they were looking for someone with a good fit for their team, and that if needed, they would provide training. The recruiter reached out to me for a third (and final) round of interviews. This took ALL DAY. I first chatted with three people, then had lunch with their tech team (everyone was nice, but they also had questions as well, so that seemed to be an interview of itself). The lunch was nice, but then came another round of interviewers (the two lead techs from the first and second interview). I thought that was the end, but no! Another round, this time with the CTO. He was nice, a little intimidating, but nice. But all the talking and interviewing was just exhausting. I was leaving when there was barely anyone in the office (most people had left)! 2 weeks of silence, and then a phone call....saying they wanted someone with more experience. You guys didn't garner my experience with my resume? All the talking and rounds of interviews? Not to mention, I took a day off from my actual job, and they offered no recourse of compensation. This interview experience, while the people were nice, was absurd. Never again will I agree to do this many rounds of interviews. It's discouraging and a waste of time.
