I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at ScholarBuys (Carpentersville, IL) in Mar 2018
Interview
I interviewed here in the Spring of 2018 for an Account Executive position. I learned about ScholarBuys through a career fair at NIU and they reached out via email to set up an interview. The process was two onsite interviews before they made me an offer. In my opinion, the offer package was quite low. Their Base salary offering is quite low. $35,000 base plus a questionable bonus plan structure that was very unclear in their offer letter. The letter mentions 1% for a lower end sale (up to $5,000), 5% for a sale up to $15,000, and then 15% for anything above that. One of the partners mentioned that typical commission for a first year employee is around $5,000, which would put the total package at around $40,000. I politely declined their offer, knowing my work is work more and now have made nearly 45% more than they were offering in my first year at another company. Additionally, first year employees accrue PTO at a rate of 1.54 hours per work work. That is unreal, only 10 PTO days per year? This needs to be increased if they want to attract talent to their organization. BCBS Insurance Plans are pretty standard
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Can you describe how you would reach out to Public/Private Schools or Universities to inquire about their tech needs?
Thank you for the feedback! We really enjoyed meeting with you last spring and hope you found something that was a good fit. It sounds like we need to do a better job at clarifying our compensation structure to candidates. The floor compensation for our sales people in 2018 was above $70,000 (Base + Commission and Bonuses). In addition to the 10 days of PTO we also provide up to 10 days of paid federal holidays and a 5 days paid winter shut down. We feel 25 days of total paid time off to start is pretty competitive. We also offer Health, Life, Dental, Vision plans and a matched 401K. Thanks again for reaching out and giving us your feedback!
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ScholarBuys (Carpentersville, IL) in Dec 2015
Interview
The interview was in two parts. The first I interviewed with the cofounders and operations manager separately and the last interview was a group interview. Questions weren't too difficult. Most were about my experiences, how I handle situations/tasks, and why I am interested in the position.

Question 1
What skills from your last position do you feel would transfer to your role here?
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ScholarBuys
Interview
I was interviewed by the VP as well as the Operations Manager. The Operations Manager asked basic questions, nothing too difficult. The questions seemed to want to get to know my personality, as well as my skills. Then I was given the opportunity to ask any questions I might have had about the company, the position, etc.
