I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Schiff Hardin (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
The interview process includes one-on-one interviews with attorneys, a panel interview with three partners, a writing exercise, and a lunch with two attorneys.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe the last time you asked for advice - what was the advice and what did you do with it?
Includes: one hour writing exam, one hour panel interview, lunch, and 6 on-on-one interviews. The panel interview was the worst--eight interviewers take turns drilling you on a six-page long list of behavioral questions.
By far, this was the longest (and worst) interview I encountered. It was also unnecessarily long--many of the one-on-one interviewers did not ask any questions.
I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Schiff Hardin in Aug 2013
Interview
There is an initial interview for about 20 minutes at your law school during OCI and then a longer half/day interview at the firm. (Allow about 5 hours). The interview at the firm includes a few short (15-30 minute) individual interviews with attorneys and then a panel interview with a few partners for about 45 minutes. There is a writing test afterwards. A lunch with two (or so) associates follows the interviews and test. Afterwards, you will get a call or letter regardless of whether they offer you a position. (I personally got a call the next day). They were prompt, but that may not always be the case.

Question 1
They asked me what was a time I had to tell a coworker bad news. I racked my brain and could't think of anything; I just improvised.
