I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sagetap (Santa Clara, CA) in Dec 2025
Interview
Recruiter screen behavioral, hiring manager/CEO screen, consultant screen, homework
Mostly behavioral with some case style within the homework (standard “give me a 6 month roadmap and strategy”) and screen by their hired Growth consultant. Do not focus too much on the negative platform metrics in the homework as that might flag your lack of optimism to overcome the user churn and systemic issues. Be creative and try to cite common Growth hacks like community building to sound relevant even though there might be diminishing returns.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Sagetap (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2025
Interview
Call with fractional people ops representative. Changed call the same day, 5+ minutes late to call, seemed distracted. Explained process well and answered questions about CEO. No follow up from email sent after.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Sagetap
Interview
Fairly straightforward in the beginning and then turned south in the end. More information is below. I got invited to speak with the Head of Engineering via LinkedIn. It seemed like a great conversation, and I proceeded to do the take-home. The take-home took about 6 hours to complete as there were specific tools I'd instead use for their requirements. After submitting the take-home, I interviewed with one of their UI engineers. This was when things made an odd turn. It was a weird conversation. He said the app worked perfectly, with tests passing great. But, he said he looking for a particular technology/pattern (when the instructions were to use anything) in the app. He also mentioned [insert widely-used state management tool] had no place in a modern application, which seemed bizarre as his preference was to use none. It seemed to me that the interviewer was a little junior to be interviewing Lead candidates. I doubt they knew what they were looking for. That aside, they said he would be reaching out in a few days. That turned into a week. Then a couple of weeks. Then a month. I kept following up but was ghosted—poor candidate experience with no feedback after spending a weekend working on their take-home. I don't recommend this place.
