Pretty much, it was "It looks like you are available and can work any and all hours, so we'll give you a try." I was basically told by senior management: "The other interviewee we were considering had put down on their application crazy schedule restrictions, so we couldn't give them the job." It made me feel "small", like the only reason Safeway Plaza Way in Walla Walla wanted me was because the "others" they interviewed for the checker/cashier position didn't put "ANYTIME" on their schedule. I did. It made me feel like I was on a date with a beautiful girl who really didn't want to be with me, but had to take me because no one else was available. And I am not ugly. Rather, I'm a good looking, clean shaven, clean-cut job applicant with loads of retail sales experience. I've got customer service talent. Thus, the management-employee interviews there are a waste of time. They hire anyone at the Walla Walla Plaza store (several checkers and bag boys of whom are quite insincere with their non-emotional customer service "Thank you" and "Come again" blank verse greetings. As long as you have the gift of gab and are not nervous or shy, and as long as you don't have any schedule issues or preferences, you are in.
