I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at STAR Autism Support (Atlanta, GA) in Mar 2023
Interview
Consisted of 4 interviews and a task to complete. The staff was kind and responsive. The overall experience was good, except for the interview about Diversity, Inclusivity, and Equity. I expected more questions to be centered around diversity and for the panel to be somewhat diverse, but it wasn't, which was disappointing. I wondered how this affects how the company approaches curriculum and how they can truly connect to their customers if it doesn't show up in their hiring process.

Question 1
How would you differentiate a lesson for a student with written expression difficulty and emerging writing skills? How do you handle mistakes? How would you approach creating curriculum for a student with autism? How would you differentiate academic and social content for students from 3 to 18?
There was a panel of people from the company for the interview asking questions in a round-robin style. The questions were fine. However, the CEO (from nepotism) kept yawning and generally looked disinterested in my answers throughout the whole thing. I thought it was really disrespectful. For a company about supporting kids with autism, they really didn't treat me well as an autistic person. After all that, I never heard back either. But I wouldn't want to join a company that is made up of entirely white or white-passing people (check out their Facebook posts). They aren't an inclusive company and had a horrible interview process.

Interview
3-part interview process - a brief HR screening interview, a technical assignment, then a panel interview with people on the team. Initially, the process seemed to be going fairly smoothly, but then they went MIA and I had to contact them to figure out what was up. They kept delaying the hiring process towards the end to ultimately inform me that I did not get the position.
