      .NET Developer Interview

      12 May 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Davie, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at SRT Group (Davie, FL) in Feb 2016

      Interview

Phone screen with HR 1/2 hour, phone screen tech test with screen sharing 45 min, on site interview 1 hour. All and all I was completely underwhelmed. First of all the location is just a hair better than warehouse space. Second, their tech interview was very much can you code this specific thing in this specific language rather than can you design and build quality software. Third, in the middle of the interview the HR person said "I need to take your phone so you don't cheat." I kept my best face but nearly fell out of the chair laughing on the inside. If your tech test is reliant on not cheating, it isn't a good tech test, also in the business world when you forget the exact object name of something with 18000+ objects in the framework - one leverages the use of the internet to help. And finally the biggest annoyance was the heavy HR angle to the whole thing. In my 20+ years as a consultant I had never experienced so much HR related useless fluff. All through the interview I was thinking, there is no way I would work here. Despite all the HR, I never actually heard from them after the interview. I assume no offer. I gave them a pretty high salary number which considering the space they were in there was no way they would pay it. In retrospect, some of the tech guys I met were not too bad and in another environment I probably would have learned something from them and enjoyed working with them. However, the overwhelming HR approach, paired with "taking of the phone," paired with the depressing warehouse like feel of the office space made this a very poor match for me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked a number of silly heavy HR related questions such as What are three qualities that describe you.
