I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SE Health (Ottawa, ON) in Aug 2016
Interview
Very casual. Did phone interview first, then met in person. Be honest with what you are looking for because they are always hiring and always have positions open. If you don't want to do visit nursing - don't offer. Wait for shift nursing if that's what you want. They understand - visit is hard and can be stressful. Be prepared to have lots of documents to bring in for orientation if you get an offer - drivers license, insurance coverage on vehicle, police record check, prior nursing hours to justify salary, etc.
Specific skills questions related to nursing- what would you do if a patient had nausea, vomiting, absence of bowel sounds, diarrhea and no solid bowel movement for days?
Easy and short and ask standard questions. You can work alone safely
You know when to escalate
You can educate patients
You are organized and reliable
You understand community risks
