The interview felt off from the beginning. It was with the CIO, and he mentioned he would be reading questions provided by HR. Some of the questions were difficult to understand, and when I asked for clarification, they were repeated rather than rephrased, which made it harder to follow.
It also seemed like he hadn’t fully reviewed the role or prepared his own questions. When I mentioned that the responsibilities felt like a mix between a Product Owner and Product Manager, he said he wasn’t entirely sure who they were looking for and mentioned he might be looking for a “unicorn.” That raised concerns for me, especially when I asked about any hesitation regarding my fit for the role.
Overall, the experience didn’t feel well-structured, and it gave me the impression that expectations for the role may not be clearly defined. That, combined with the interview experience, felt like a red flag.
I do want to highlight that the recruiter, Charlotte, was very communicative and professional throughout the process, which I appreciated.
